Target-size compression
For JPEG and WebP, target-size mode searches for a quality setting that produces a file near the selected size. The result is approximate because image content and browser encoders affect output size. If the minimum quality still exceeds your target, the tool reports that the target could not be reached with the selected dimensions.
Photo and signature dimensions
Different exam authorities and application portals publish different photo and signature specifications. The presets on this page are only convenient editable canvas sizes. They are not represented as universal standards. Check the current official notification for the exact application you are completing.
Frequently asked questions
Will PNG always become smaller?
No. PNG is lossless in this tool and can become larger after canvas re-encoding. Compare the output size with the original.
Does JPEG preserve a transparent background?
No. JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent pixels are rendered on a white background when converting to JPEG.
Does the tool upload my photo?
No. The browser File API and Canvas API perform the processing locally in your browser.
